What's the problem

Insulation helps keep people comfortable This same comfort is something that wood-boring insects (such as termites and carpenter ants) seek. It's obvious that the two can't exist together in engineered systems for a variety of reasons:

People generally dislike the presence of termites or carpenter ants
Termites reduce insulation and system performance
Termites cause problems for structural systems and in systems that use rigid insulation as a structural component
Costs to the owner continue indefinitely to control termites

A Closer Look at Testing

R-Control Building Systems has conducted extensive research to:

Find an effective non-toxic additive that would deter termites
Develop numerous processes for the permanent incorporation of the additive into EPS
"Test prove" and "field prove" the efficacy of the
Perform Guard EPS*

Extensive insect exposure tests have been conducted by industry recognized institutions following test standards In addition, product performance testing has been conducted to prove that the R-Control Building System treatment processes last for the life of the insulation, when installed per manufacturer's recommendations.

*Tested against termites and carpenter ants. Manufacturer has list of specific species on file. Perform Guard is not a barrier system. Insects may enter in through other access areas.
